Classes

Most people walk into a gallery quietly worried they don’t know enough to have an opinion. So they look politely, say nothing, and leave.

Here is the shortcut nobody tells you: you don’t find out what you love by looking. You find out by trying.

Spend one evening pushing oil paint around with a knife and you learn something about yourself very quickly — whether you are drawn to thick and physical or thin and quiet, to colour or to line, to a landscape or to a face. Nobody has to explain it to you. Your hand works it out.

After that, walking through a gallery is a different experience entirely. You stop guessing. You start recognising.

That is why we teach in the same room where we hang the work — on South Anne Street, surrounded by the artists we represent. Small groups, every level welcome, and no one is going to look over your shoulder and sigh.

Most people who walk in tell us they can’t draw. Most of them leave with something they want to show someone.

Which one is for me?

Never done this before, and want to start properly. The 8-Week Foundation Course. Eight evenings, the same group each week, building from the beginning.

Want a good night out that isn’t dinner. Bubbles & Brushstrokes. One evening, oil painting with Steve, a glass of something, and a finished painting to take home.

Bringing a group. Birthdays, hen parties, team days, a family with visitors over. Five people or more, any date we’re free.

Where and when

6 South Anne Street, Dublin 2, D02 V095
Gallery open Tuesday – Saturday, 11:00 – 18:30

Questions about levels, materials or accessibility — hello@tealhousegallery.com or +353 85 112 6271. We would rather answer a question than have someone not come.

And when something clicks

Plenty of people come for a class and end up in front of a painting they would have walked straight past six weeks earlier. Not because they learned the right answer — because they learned their own taste. That is the whole point.
